Different Perspective

I will say one thing about aging- it really wreaks havoc on your perspective. Actually, I need to reframe that. It changes it 100%.

When I was younger I kept thinking I had to go places, and do things. I thought my weekends had to be chock full of activities. I needed to SEE things. Let's go to this lake, lets go to the fair, or even let's DO THIS.

Now, I just and marvel at the beauty of things. I love to just sit, and take in what I'm looking at. A tree branch laden with snow is exquisite.

With age I have come to appreciate the small moments, and the simple things. I'm not gonna lie I wouldn't mind skipping some of the wrinkles and age spots, though! (A girl can dream, can't she?)

  1. I can totally relate. I would like to do a bit more fun things, but that always seems to take time and planning. Enjoying the simpler things is precious. Age spots, wrinkles, and the rest are not fun! I keep trying to tell myself that one day this time of my life will look good.

  2. I'm not yet a retired teacher, but I do love to be able to soak in moments lately. Just sitting and noticing sights, sounds, smells, and how each moment feels. I get a lot more out of my day, and I don't feel the need to DO as much then. Isn't it great to recognize this and then plan to NOT do more? ;)

  3. Today I was looking at some pictures from the holidays. Actually, one was from this past weekend. They were simple yet precious moments around Mom's dining room table. One was decorating cookies as a family when I was with the kids at Christmas and the other one was a tea party that they had this weekend. Dressed so sweetly in their flannel Christmas gowns that matched the gowns worn by their baby dolls. I made my heart happy.

    1. Memories like that are the best! So many memories were made in that house, around that table and especially on that porch. ❤️❤️
